Children’s Ministry Director
Sybil Smith began her ministry to children as Children’s Choir Director at Faith Baptist Church, Ft. Pierce, Florida. She also served as Director of their Children’s Church. Her ministry to children, both in music and drama extended to Victory Baptist Church, Okeechobee, Florida, where she also taught in their Christian School. It was during this time that she wrote and directed her first Drama Production, “Home for Christmas”, for the church. In 1985, her family moved to Augusta, Georgia where they joined Southside Baptist. Soon after, Sybil became Director of The Children’s Worship Hour. After incorporating a puppet ministry, the Children’s Worship moved into the former sanctuary. In 1989, Sybil and her children moved to Greensboro. In 1997 she became the Children’s Choir Director at Clifton Road Baptist Church, which she directed until May 2006, at which time she became a charter member of True Vine Community Church. She served as (Interim) Music Director from January 2007 to January 2012 then became Director of Children’s Ministries at Good Shepherd Church, a ministry she says, “Where kids and leaders are a really big deal.” Sybil is the mother of two sons, two daughters, and nine grandsons.
